Buying Your Perentie
WhereThere are four ways to buy a Perentie: online auction through Australian Frontline Machinery, a private sale, a second-hand car yard, or through us. Australian Frontline Machinery (AFM) is an Australian company with the contract to dispose of ex-military vehicles via auction. Auctions take place online through Pickles Auctions and are usually conducted once a month in various locations around Australia. For a negotiable fee we are available to conduct pre-purchase inspections of vehicles at these auction sites. We also have access to a limited stock of Perenties. All of these vehicles receive a major service and complete inspection before sale. They can also be specified with any of our upgrades or accessories. WhatWithout any prior knowledge of the Land Rover Perentie it can be a daunting task to figure out what each model is, what the history of any vehicle is and of course what you should pay for one. Prices at auction vary greatly; why is that? All the answers you are looking for can be found in Dave Bailey’s 110 Perentie Buyers Guide. Available as an e-book, it contains over 100 pages covering vehicle specifications and history, in-service modifications, information on the rebuild programs, and of course a pre-purchase inspection guide. |

I’ve Bought One!
Post-purchase we highly recommend a full service and inspection. This is especially important if you intend to drive the vehicle interstate on its maiden voyage. Although these vehicles are maintained to the highest standard with almost no regard for cost they are still a twenty plus year old motor vehicle.
Items that must be checked include:
- Wheelnuts and drive flange bolts
- All oil levels
- Drain and clean the fuel sedimentor
- Clutch and brake fluid (remove the bell-housing wading plug)
- Coolant
- Lights (including dash lights)
- Thorough visual inspection
This is by no means a complete list. From here they are a blank canvas to use as is, or modify and customize to your particular needs.
If you are buying from interstate we can organise the pick-up and inspection (Thurgoona NSW auctions only) and carry out any required work before you collect your serviced and travel-readied vehicle from KLR. This also gives you the opportunity to get a feel of your Perentie by having a drive of one of our demonstration vehicles.
